Rebuilding my portfolio with AI as my team
How I took my own portfolio from a WordPress template to a hand-built, bilingual site — researched, designed, coded and shipped with AI in every step.
This case study is being written as the project happens. The full before / after story will be published after launch.
Why rebuild
My old site was a WordPress template with a heavy slider plugin. A quick audit found broken footer links, a typo in a key button, zoom disabled on mobile, and project cards that showed images without any context. It didn’t reflect how I work today.
How I worked
I set up a virtual team of fifteen roles — product manager, UX researcher, UX writer, UI and motion designers, an accessibility specialist, a developer, DevOps and more — and worked through each role with AI, making every decision myself.
- Research: audited the old site and analysed reference sites I admire.
- Visual direction: explored five directions, eight accent colours, six hero backgrounds and three rounds of logos before landing on this one.
- Build: hand-built with Astro, bilingual from day one, deployed for free on Cloudflare.
